PLANS for a youth shelter in Trowbridge Park are in the pipeline and the Friends of Trowbridge Park are now looking for youngsters to get involved.

The idea, which has taken on the name of The Wolfpack, was first suggested at a consultation event in February 2014 and since then FoTP have been working with the town council to create something which would be exclusively for young people in the town.

While numbers have not yet been fixed, it is believed that the project will cost tens of thousands of pounds and the shelter will be built at the eastern end of the park near Roundstone Surgery.

Sharl Adabashi, chairman of the FoTP said: “We recently did a consultation with students at John of Gaunt School and the idea that came through was a youth shelter in the park which would be attractive for both boys and girls with a place to sit but nothing too formal.

“I am about to form a project team to finalise the designs and it will include myself, a couple of councillors, representatives from FoTP and young people who will help us deliver the shelter.

“The guiding focus is to be unique and to deliver something that inspires the young people and, from our perspective at the FoTP, it has to have that creative element about it.

“Young people should definitely get involved because they can help us shape and deliver what other young people want.

“We are also looking for sponsors and donors for the project because every little helps.”

From the feedback, Mr Adabashi is also looking into the idea of a hotspot and playing facilities but said the overriding request is a wall where they can do graffiti art which can be washed off.
