A MEMORY-filled farewell was shared between staff and students from Clarendon Academy who came together for the sixth-form leaver’s ball on June 30.

Around 100 students put on their best frocks for the momentous occasion which aimed to celebrate their academic successes as well as wish them luck for the future.

Andy Ridyard, assistant head of sixth form, said with a month to go until they receive their A-level results, the prom was the perfect opportunity for many to have one last catch up before the summer break.

“Summer’s here was the theme for our sixth form prom and the spirit the students showed after some very hard-working months, but the weather had clearly not received the invite to the party,” he added.

“The excellent attitude our ladies and gents have shown throughout the year shone through resulting in an evening filled with beaming smiles and memory-filled farewells between students and staff.

“Clarendon Academy’s sixth form prom had great students, great dancing, great celebrations, great company, great fun and summer is now here.”

Throughout the evening, students were able to give speeches thanking their favourite teachers. Mr Ridyard also thanked the students for their hard work and effort in their A-levels.

He added: “It was great that the prom was the last time for many students to see each other and it was absolutely lovely to see them say farewell to teachers that have really been a mainstay through the stressful and deep learning time that is sixth form.”
