CUSTOMERS gave the manager of Asda in Trowbridge a soaking on Friday all in aid of raising money for Tickled Pink.

As part of breast cancer awareness month, the fundraiser saw Simon Freestone volunteer to stand in the stocks while customers, and colleagues, lined up to throw a wet sponge at him.

Mr Freestone said: “The leadership team and all the colleagues have volunteers to take part and Tickled Pink is out main charity that we raise money for at Asda and we wanted to make our fundraiser worthwhile for the cause.

“I’ve bravely volunteered to do this in another store which was a success so we hope the general public get involved as well as our staff who have been given the opportunity to soak their managers.”

The store has supported Tickled Pink for the last 20 years which sees a partnership between Asda and Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Now to raise money and awareness.

Previous fundraisers have included instore events like guessing the number of sweets in a jar while staff have also dressed up in their favourite sci-fi characters.

Customers will have the opportunity to soak staff again tomorrow (October 15) between 11am-2pm.

The team have managed to raise £210.14 from the weekend which will bring their total to nearly £2,000 by the end of the year.
