THE Salvation Army and Wiltshire Times Toy Appeal has just found another collection point, with Tesco in County Way, Trowbridge, accepting donations.

Organised by Major Kelvin Lang, the toy appeal launched its third drop of point at the supermarket in County Way. With help of the Tesco community champions, Major Lang is hoping for a large collection to add to this year’s appeal.

Major Lang, 55, said: “Tesco will be collecting until December 3, they definitely collect a lot every year. There will be a trolley at the front of the store, when you walk in, where people can drop their donations. Tara has done a great job decorating the trolley so it looks like a sleigh.”

As community champions for the supermarket, Tara Wysocki and Lauren Roberts have done as much as possible to encourage people to drop off their toys.

“I just think it is good for Tesco to support its community, it is for a very good cause and helps give something to people who wouldn’t usually have anything for Christmas. We usually fill the trolley within a week so it is then collected and refilled,” said Miss Wysocki.

Although this is Miss Wysocki’s first year working alongside the community champions for the toy appeal, Tesco has become a regular drop off point for the annual donation drive.

Miss Roberts said: “The collection is all about giving back to our community. I have been involved with it before and we usually get a very good collection.”

The toy appeal will be running until December 11, giving social services the time to drop the collections off to the families that need it most this Christmas.
