A MAN who got caught up in the bar melee in Trowbridge on Saturday night and required hospital treatment has spoken out about the incident.

Nick Smith, 22, a groundworker, was out with friends when he was caught up in the Albany Palace brawl and became injured as a result.

He told the Press Association: "I went to get a drink and the next minute I turn round and get bottled.

"I apparently went out the pub with all this blood coming from my head, everyone was looking at me.

"I don't remember too much, really. My mates say I blacked out for about 15 minutes."

The fracas was filmed by Tommy Arkle, 21, a friend of Mr Smith.

He said it started as a "one vs one" but escalated wildly.

The lorry driver said: "It started out small between some blokes. Then I just heard a lot of shouting and loads of people started to pile in.

"There weren't enough bouncers to deal with it and it took the police about 15 minutes to get there.

"The night was ruined because obviously we had to go to hospital with Nick after to make sure he was all right."
