POLICE have released details of a man they would like to speak to in relation to the murder which took place in Trowbridge in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The man is described as white, around 25-30-years-old, at least 6 ft tall, of large build (weighing around 17-stone) with a round, chubby face and a dark goatee beard.

At the time of the incident the man was wearing a green knee-length Parka-style jacket and dark blue jeans.

He may have an injury to his face and he spoke in English.

Det Chief Insp Jeremy Carter said: "I would like to ask anyone who recognises this description to come forward immediately, even if you are not sure it's best to contact us so we can eliminate people from our enquiries.

"I am also appealing for anyone who may know anything linked to this tragic incident to come forward; did you hear or see anything suspicious in the area of Timbrell Street and Prospect Place or in the area around Trowbridge Community Hospital in the early hours of Sunday morning - between 1am and 1.45am?

"I still believe that the answer to this murder lies in the local Trowbridge community and ask anyone who can help to please contact us on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

Insp James Brain, Community Policing Team Inspector for Trowbridge, said: "I want to reassure everyone living and working locally that this major investigation continues with an increased police presence in the town, extra patrols and further work to find those responsible.
