A MAN has been assaulted in Trowbridge, leaving him with a broken cheek bone.

The 28-year-old man was cycling along a footpath by Cherry Gardens adjacent to the railway line, when he was approached by two men who attempted to take his mobile phone from him.

They then assaulted the man and broke his cheekbone, after which he required medical treatment at the Royal United Hospital in Bath.

Police have launched an appeal to find the suspects.

The first man is described as white with shaved dark hair. He was clean shaven, around 5ft11 – 6ft1 inches tall and of stocky build.

He had a tattoo on his right wrist – possibly a ‘sleeve’ and is believed to be aged late 20s to early 30s.

He was wearing a light grey hooded top, grey jogging bottoms and black Adidas running trainers with white stripes.

The second man is described as white, aged in his late 20s to early 30s, around 5ft7 inches tall and of skinny build. He was wearing a black hoody with a grey zip and dark blue jeans.

Detective Constable Rob Blake, of CID, said: “This was a nasty and unprovoked attack on a man as he cycled home. He sustained a broken cheek bone as a result and attended the Royal United Hospital for treatment.

“We have carried out house to house enquiries in the area and have been looking into any potential CCTV footage from the local area.

“We’d like to hear from anyone who may have seen these two men prior to, or after the incident on Tuesday night.

“We do not know which direction they left in, but would be keen to hear from anyone who may have any information no matter how insignificant it may seem. Alternatively, if you recognise the descriptions given, please get in touch.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
