The impressive World War One exhibition created by Richard Broadhead and presented by Warminster Town Council in the Civic Centre has closed after a 10-day run.

Some 750 visitors came to the exhibition, and thanks are owed to the volunteers who stewarded, the ladies who dressed up as nurses and the young men who paraded in uniforms.

Deputy mayor Sue Fraser said: “We are overwhelmed with the response to this impressive exhibition. over £440 has been collected from visitors and presented to The Royal British Legion Poppy Fund.

“Thanks to Richard Broadhead for producing this exhibition and we will be doing further exhibitions of rem- embrance over the next four years.”

The collection was handed over to Colonel Charles Lane, who said: “A marvellous exhibition, people immensely generous.

“I know The Earl Haig Poppy Appeal will be thrilled to have this donation.”

Colonel Lane retires as Poppy collection organiser in September, and he will be replaced by Lesley Fudge.
