Warminster School was treated to an out of this world experience when its Astronomy Club presented a guide to the Solar System.
The event, held in the Thomas Arnold hall and shown to an audience of 200 just before Christmas, was inspired by the Royal Institution which has run science lectures for young people since 1825.
The presentation, called The Formation of the Solar System, involved pictures, videos and a demonstration of the Solar System including wrapping the whole audience, comprising of students and staff, in brown paper.
Science teacher Catherine Wilson, who also runs the club, said: “Sincere thanks to our science technician Helen Brown, who supported the preparation and presentation and played a vital part in the success of the lecture.
“The club hopes to present the second seasonal lecture at Easter.
“Preparations are already under way under the heading Exploration of the Solar System and particular focus will be the use of robots in space.”
