PUPILS at Kingdown School who visited Nepal and Mount Everest over the winter are holding a fundraising night after the country was struck by an earthquake.
More than 5,000 people have died in the disaster, with 18 climbers and Sherpas killed while on the highest peak in the world.
Two sittings will be held at the Agra Indian restaurant in Warminster on May 17, costing £20 per head, of which £12 will go towards helping a village destroyed on the mountain.
“I was approached by some students the day after it happened saying we need to raise some money and they came up with this idea,” said Nick Trimby, who organised the trip in December.
“All of the Sherpas we used are safe and that’s absolutely fantastic, mainly for the kids’ sake as they were a bit worried about the guys. It’s been on their minds and it’s a real tragedy what’s happened.”
