A PUPIL featured in the recent ITV programme, A Very Public Education, has been offered a place at the £27,000-a-year Warminster School.
Brett Riley, 14, a pupil at Bemrose School in Derby, will join the Wiltshire school as a boarder after appearing in the documentary, which looked at the difference between public and private education.
His fees will be part-paid by his former school and by The SpringBoard Bursary Foundation, which provides bursaries for disadvantaged children in state or independent boarding schools.
Head of Warminster School Mark Mortimer said: “I am delighted that Brett is coming to Warminster School and so are the staff and pupils. As viewers of the recent school swap saw, he has a great deal of potential and will contribute much to the school community.
“I hope that what came across on TV is what we pride ourselves on most – a sense of community, a culture of encouragement and participation in which it’s OK to struggle or even fail sometimes."
“If you saw ITV’s two-part documentary, then you will have had an accurate snapshot of the school.
“Both schools, Brett and his family are very grateful for the widespread interest and support that the programme has generated, however, I am sure that people will understand that it is important that Brett is now allowed to focus on his education and adaptation to life as a boarder.”
