THE streets of Warminster were full last night as thousands came to see the town's annual carnival.

Over 50 floats left the intersection of Prestbury Drive and Boreham Road at 7pm before making their way through to the Obelisk at the junction of Silver Street and Vicarage Road.

Many community groups and clubs got involved, including Infinity Dance Group, Warminster RFC, First Warminster Brownies, in addition to the larger carnival clubs from further afield.

Warminster Lions led the way, selling bags of coppers for young children to give to bucket collectors, with proceeds going to local charities.

Their secretary, Nick Humpherson, said: "It's a great event and the Carnival committee do a brilliant job. It's a pleasure and a joy to support the town."

Warminster Royal British Legion, a week ahead of Remembrance Sunday, brought a poppy filled float.

Ted Wilson, of Warminster Royal British Legion, said: "I enjoy it, it's hard work doing it but I have got a couple of Legion members joining me."

More pictures from the Warminster Carnival will be in this week's Wiltshire Times.
