A WARMINSTER woman was among those celebrating the Queen’s 90th birthday at Windsor Castle on Sunday.

Jen Gale, a previous winner of the World Wildlife Fund’s (WWF) Hidden Hero Competition, joined the likes of TV duo Ant and Dec, TV presenter Alan Titchmarsh and singer Katherine Jenkins in wishing Her Majesty a happy birthday.

Mrs Gale was nominated to represent WWF at the Queen’s birthday celebration because of her outstanding support for WWF’s mission and her efforts to encourage others to live more sustainably.

Mrs Gale said: “It was such a privilege to attend the Queen’s birthday celebration at Windsor Castle, I felt honoured to be a part of such an amazing and unique event.

“I was thrilled to be nominated to represent WWF at this special celebration and I’m really pleased to see that my work and support brings value to the organisation which motivates me to work even harder on inspiring others to live more sustainably.”

Last year, the Warminster resident was nationally recognised as the Community Champion winner in Earth Hour’s Hidden Heroes competition for not buying anything new for one year and sharing her top tips in her blog, entitled ‘Make do and Mend Life.’

Since winning the competition, she has gone on to write for national titles including the Huffington Post, Guardian and Daily Mail.

David Nussbaum, the Chief Executive of WWF-UK said: “The Queen’s 90th birthday celebration was a magnificent occasion and WWF are delighted to have been part of it.

“It was a proud moment to see two of our most outstanding supporters representing WWF at Windsor Castle on Sunday. We really appreciate Jen’s dedication in supporting the organisation and we hope she enjoyed this once in a lifetime experience.”
