POLICE are hunting burglars in connection with two separate raids at Princecroft Primary School in Warminster.

The school, in Princecroft Lane, has been targeted twice within two weeks.

More than £1,000 worth of equipment has been stolen as the new term looms.

At around 6.15pm on August 10, raiders broke into the school and stole a laptop and seven iPads from a cupboard after stealing the key from a classroom cupboard.

They also forced open a metal storage shed in the playground and threw the contents around, mainly outdoor play items, before jumping on the roof and denting it. They then smashed the window of another building but did not re-enter.

The school’s head governor, Liz Smith, said: “We are disappointed that the school has been broken into and that such a significant amount has been stolen.

“We hope it will be sorted before the start of next term and hope that the items will be recovered.

“The school has worked so hard to get where it is today so it’s such a shame when things like this happen.”

On August 16, at 11.15am, the school was hit for a second time when burglars climbed on to the roof and smashed the window that leads into the hall, leaving shattered glass on the floor.

Headteacher Michael Park said: “I am very saddened by this. We are working closely with police and hope to have the items returned by the start of next term."

Anyone who has any information about the break-ins can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
