A WOMAN who collapsed in a Warminster shop when buying items for her two daughters has praised shop staff and paramedics for their response.

Sarah Todd, from Shaftesbury, was shopping with her twin daughters, Izy and Betty, aged 4, and parents in B&M when she suddenly became unwell and collapsed.

Miss Todd was then looked after by workers at the shop before paramedics swiftly arrived at the scene and took her to Salisbury Hospital, from where she was later discharged.

The 29-year-old said: “It was the weekend before my twin girls started school so I was looking for PE shorts for them with my mum and dad.

“All of a sudden I started to feel quite unwell – I became dizzy and had pains in my legs and shortly later collapsed in the shop.

“My dad called 101 and just two minutes later an ambulance arrived. The paramedics who looked after me, Jess and Steve, were absolutely lovely.

“I can’t remember an awful lot from the experience but I do know that they were fantastic, and other people have confirmed that too.

“Staff at the shop were amazing too. Heather and Abby let me lie down on the cushions and made sure I had water.

“They also entertained my daughters while I was being seen by the paramedics by letting them play with the toys, which meant they didn't have to see me in the ambulance.

“I have since been in to thank staff at the shop – they didn’t have to do all of that but they went beyond the line of duty to make sure I was okay.

“It’s things like this that make you realise there is still humanity in the world despite all the bad stuff.”

Miss Todd collapsed due to stress, which was caused as a result of her children about to start school and several other matters.

Abby Pugh, 23, was the member of staff who kept the two girls occupied as their mum received treatment in the ambulance.

She said: “I was upstairs when I heard the ambulance arrive so went downstairs and offered to look after the girls.

“We played with the Halloween toys we’ve currently got on display and talked about which ones we liked the most.

“I’m glad we could help in a difficult situation.”
