POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a taxi driver was assaulted in Trowbridge Town Park in the early hours of Sunday morning by two teenagers who had run out of the cab without paying the fare.
The incident took place at around 12.45am on Sunday, after the two had got out of the taxi in Market Street and run towards the park.
The driver suffered a cut to the head and bumps and bruises in the assault.
A 16-year-old from Trowbridge and a 17-year-old from Westbury were arrested following the incident and have since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Police believe that a man and a woman who were walking through the park towards Park Road at the time may have witnessed the attack and are urging them to come forward.
