POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a supermarket customer was left feeling shaken and distressed after a stranger harassed her while shopping.

The incident happened at Morrisons in Edward Street, Westbury, on June 1 between 12.50pm and 1.15pm.

The woman was shopping in the store when a man approached her and started harassing and intimidating her.

This went on for a number of minutes, including harassing her at the checkout and following her to her car in the supermarket's car park.  The suspect made off after a Morrisons’ member of staff came to help the woman.

The victim drove back to her place of work but, due to her distress, was taken to Westbury Police Station by a colleague to report the incident.

The man is described as Asian, approximately 5' 5" tall, of slight build with short black hair and small brown eyes.   He was wearing a white t-shirt, dark polo shirt, dark waistcoat, black trousers and trainers.

PC Rebecca Nixon, Wiltshire Police, said:  "I would like to hear from anyone who may have seen a man acting suspiciously in Morrison's around this time and on this day.

“If you were shopping at that time or saw something suspicious in the car park please contact me, PC 1983 Rebecca Nixon at Trowbridge Police Station, on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
