WESTBURY Town Crier Sean Price has finally hung up his bell and hat after 20 years in the job.

The 48-year-old, who was the youngest town crier in the UK when he took up the role in 1995, signed off by visiting 12 pubs across the town as part of a Tour de Westbury.

The father-of-four performed a cry at all 12 of the venues, which started at the The Railway Inn and finished at The Lopes on Friday.

Mr Price also performed personalised cries on his tour while raising money for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

He said: “It was absolutely amazing and incredible that over a 100 people joined me on the tour.

“It was a little bit emotional but it’s been a long time coming and so wasn’t a shock to the system but I did love being the town crier.

“It has sunk in a little bit and it is the end of an era for me but I’m sure the next person who comes in will do a brilliant job and I’ll be supporting them.”

Westbury Town Council is now seeking someone to take on the role and anyone interested should call 01373 822232 or email info@westburytowncouncil.gov.uk
