A NEW theatre school has been set up in Westbury by three experienced teachers.

The talented trio of Abbie Hanks, Amy Thomas and Amy Watts, all from Trowbridge, grouped together to launch the 'A Star Theatre School', based in the West Wiltshire Trading Estate.

The school teaches singing, dancing and acting to children aged between 4 and 14.

Miss Watts said: “We had two taster sessions at the end of March and one last week, which have all been really well attended.

“We all felt that more kids in the area should have the chance to perform and express themselves in a theatrical setting.

“So, using our individual backgrounds, we set the school up to provide that opportunity, which has been largely lacking in Wiltshire for quite a long time.

“Amy is the academy’s singing tutor. She is a very talented opera singer and was chosen to sing the national anthems for Wales at the rugby world in 2003.

“I am the dance tutor and have been teaching dancing for around seven years at schools in both Westbury and Trowbridge.

“Abbie is the drama teacher. She has taught all over Wiltshire and Bristol and loves the positive impact that acting can have on children, especially those who are facing difficulties in life.”
