A DECISION on allowing homes to be built on the former Westbury Hospital site has been delayed yet again.
The fate of the land was initially supposed to be decided in February but was put back until next Wednesday (July 20).
Now campaigners have learned it could be another three months before a decision is made as more changes are made to the plan.
Chairman of Sensible Thinking on Patients (STOP), Erica Watson, said: “It’s a bit of a double-edged sword as I’m glad they’re making sure it’s right but I of course wish it was turned into something the community could benefit from such as another healthcare service or residential home.
“As I’ve said before, this development, if approved, will only worsen traffic and air quality issues in Westbury.
“Between 8-9am it can take up to 40 minutes to get from the site of the former hospital to the train station and waiting times at our health centre are increasing all the time.”
The plans have received strong opposition from residents, with over 150 letters of objection being sent to Wiltshire Council.
