MATRAVERS celebrated with a solid set of results with students achieving top grades in their A-level and BTEC courses.

Dr simon Riding, head teacher at the school, said: “We are delighted with the performance of a wonderful group of young people.

“Students, staff and parents have worked extremely hard to deliver a great set of results.

“Our successful young people can now progress on to higher education and apprenticeships.”

Top performing students at the school include Lydia Toyne who achieved an A* in Psychology and A grades in English Literature and Art and is now going to study Art at Brighton University.

Other high achievers include Jess Scragg, who is going to study Ecology at the University of East Anglia after achieving AAC, and Kieran King who will study Geography at Plymouth after getting ABC.

Mr King, 18, said: “I’m really happy with my results. It means I can study Physical Geography and Geology at Plymouth, which I’m really looking forward to.

“It’s a real weight off my shoulders. I’ll miss people from here but there are loads of people from Matravers going to Plymouth which is good.”

Molly Dovey, 18, from Westbury, got BBCC and is now going to do an internship in Outdoor Education.

“It’s something I have always wanted to do and I can’t wait to get started,” she said.

“I will miss both teachers and friends, everyone is so lovely and friendly here.”

Joe Gillingham, 18, from Westbury, said: “I got a D in Drama which I’m happy with.

“I want to go into the Army to study an Ammunition Technology course, which is really hard to get into. I’m proper excited about it.”
