CLOSE friends of a Dilton Marsh resident who was killed in a motorbike accident have organised a festival to toast his memory.

Stuart Lange was involved in a collision with a car in Clink Road, Frome, on July 1, 2016, and one year and one day on from that fateful day, a group of his motorcycle friends will host Langefest in his memory and to raise funds for charity.

After months of preparation, the festival on July 2, is coming together nicely and will feature activities such as a climbing wall, bouncy castle, laser quest, cars and bikes on display, a craft tent, live music and a motorcycle rideout of around 70 miles from 10.30am.

One of the organisers and close friend, Simon Boon, said: "He was a hugely popular figure who selflessly helped so many people and did so much good so we want to continue that goodness under his name.

"Stuart was a family man with two children and was an avid biker. For his funeral a parade of more than 140 bikes followed his hearse, which shows how well-known and liked he was.

"For me personally it was a pleasure to get to know him over the last seven years. I am very excited that we can do something like this to toast his memory.

"It should be a great day, one that I am very much looking forward to. We anticipate there could be more than 1,000 people for the family fun day. I want to thank all the businesses who helped put this together."

Mr Boon said that Mr Lange, who was 38 when he died, regularly did fundraising activities for the April Jones Trust, a charity that helps children in need, schools and youth clubs, and the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, so that is what the funds from the day will go towards.

The event will run from 10.30am-5pm at Frome Rugby Club and for more information visit www.langefest.co.uk
