THE third year of the annual Summer Market at the Morrisons store in Westbury has raised more than £400 for a charity shop in Trowbridge.

The sunny bank holiday Monday saw members of the community come together to enjoy an afternoon of various stalls and sales, a tombola, children's games and refreshments to raise money for CLIC Sargent, a charity which supports children and young people diagnosed with cancer.

The event raised an impressive £348.86, along with an additional £62 which was raised in store from a staff raffle, making a grand total of £410.86.

Lisa Litterick, community champion for Morrisons Westbury, and event organiser said: "Although the day was quiet, we had a consistent flow of customers who couldn't resist a go on our tombola, at the end of the day we had been completely cleared of prizes.

"We are all completely blown away with our total and we couldn't be more proud.

"This was our most successful market to date."

Organisers would like to thank those individuals who manned the stalls, and local companies who managed stalls such as CNK Catering, Westbury Shed, Craftie Caroline and others.

Morrisons will be holding a similar Christmas themed charity market later on in the year.
