RESIDENTS of Westbury and the surrounding areas have woken up without water after a main burst yesterday evening.

Wessex water are carrying out emergency repairs to the damaged pipe which has left some customers in Westbury, Westbury Leigh and Dilton Marsh with low water pressure or no supply at all.

Engineers have worked through night to fix the problem, but it is likely that the water supply will be most affected this morning.

Ashlea Lane, director of water supply at Wessex Water said: "We're working hard to fix the burst water main which is affecting a large number of customers in the area.

"While we were able to temporarily restore water supply during the night, due to demand first thing this morning we were unable to maintain supplies for all customers.

"We apologise to customers in the area and thank everyone for their patience."

Wessex Water have arranged for bottled water to be available for those in the area and can be collected from the White Horse Health Centre on Mane Way and High Street car Park, Westbury.

Updates for customers are available on www.wessexwater.co.uk and any customers that require water for medical purposes should call 0345 600 4 600.
