A 19-YEAR-OLD budding model from Heywood near Westbury has been selected to appear on the BBC’s Children in Need programme Celebrity Scissorhands.

Laura Mazurkiewicz, 19, a Wiltshire College Trowbridge student, will have her hair cut by one of the celebrities on the show including Shana Swash, who plays Demi Miller in EastEnders, Radio One DJ Jeff Leach and Lucinda Ledgerwood from Alan Sugar’s The Apprentice.

The former Matravers pupil, who is now a studying Information Technology at college, is hoping to raise £500 in the process and present a cheque to presenter George Lamb live on the show.

She said: “I heard about the show through my agent and I agreed to apply for it. I had to send in some photos and I had an interview on the phone as well.

“I watch Children in Need when it’s on. It’s such a worthwhile cause and that’s one of the reasons why I agreed to go on the show.

“I watched a little bit of Celebrity Scissorhands last year and I’ve obviously been watching it this year. I’ve been horrified by the celebrities because they don’t listen to their clients and they just cut the hair how they want to, so I will have to fight to come out with all my hair.”

Laura is due to appear on the show in the next two weeks and if you would like to sponsor her for Children in Need, which is on November 14, call the Wiltshire Times on 01225 773641.
