Trowbridge estate bids to set up friends group

Residents of a Trowbridge estate are trying to set up a Friends of Studley Green community group and have arranged a meeting to gauge opinions.

Businesses, residents and parents can drop in to the John Bull pub in Westfield Road between 1pm and 3pm on Tuesday, to share ideas and opinions about the estate.

The idea is to allow people to talk to councillors, police and housing associations about concerns or ideas they have.

For more details, contact community development office Maryrose Mantle on 01225 765072.

What a perfectly sensible time to hold a meeting - the middle of the afternoon when people ARE AT WORK!

Will the existing community not allow this proposed community the use of the community centre?

"...residents and parents..."

Are they two different things then?

"The idea is to allow people to talk to councillors, police and housing associations about concerns or ideas they have."

I'm pretty sure they are already allowed to do that.

How about a follow up story. I heard that most there today were paid Selwood staff and the Police. What is happening to the Studley Green Community Centre? Who is in charge down there?

All seems a bit crazy - Studlet Green has Selwood's People Place and the Community Centre, yet they meet in the pub.

What is going on?

Most of the residents were probably still in bed. Especially as someone told them the old bill were going to be there.
