A MYSTERY for Wiltshire Times readers to solve this week: where were these pictures taken, and what do they show?

They were brought into the Westbury Heritage Centre in Westbury High Street by a man who said he had found them while clearing out a house, and did not like to throw them away without trying to trace the owners, or family members of those pictured.

Centre volunteer Carole King said: "We don't think the picture of the band marching through a town was taken in Westbury, as none of us recognise the buildings in the background.

"You can see the band in the more formal picture is the same one, because you can see the young trumpet or cornet player marching behind the man on the bicycle on the group shot. That looks as if it might have been taken in a park or someone's garden."

The wedding picture could have been taken in Westbury, perhaps outside a church or chapel after the ceremony. The bridegroom is in military uniform and the proud family on the bride's side seems to include a gentleman in either police or maybe fire service uniform.

If you can help with the history of any of the pictures, or would like to claim them for your own family archive if they feature members of your family, contact the Heritage Centre on 01373 825784.
