A SOUTHWICK couple who held a tea party at their home for Dorothy House are urging other people to join the fundraising.
Doug and Julie Lane opened their doors as part of the charity's Dorothy’s Tea Party scheme, which encourages people to host tea parties for friends and family to raise funds for the hospice.
Mrs Lane said: "We wanted to do our bit for a local charity. What started as part of Dorothy’s Tea Party just grew into a full event. Our friends have been amazing in donating cakes and items to be sold throughout the day.”
As well as refreshments, there was a 100 draw with prizes including hampers, a CD, DVD and book sale and a plant/garage sale.
Mrs Lane added: “This is our first attempt at a fundraiser and we are very pleased at how it has gone. We think around 60 visitors have come over the course of the day and we’d like to especially thank my six trusty helpers who have helped tirelessly setting up and packing away.”
