RUGBY fans in Trowbridge have rallied around the parents of a Trowbridge girl, raising money for a hospice in her memory.

Janet and Ron Nuttall, of Greenway Gardens, have been raising money since the death of their daughter Tiree, aged 18.

In a bid to raise more money for Naomi House and Jack’s Place hospices, which looked after Tiree by giving her respite care, the couple arranged a fundraising day at Trowbridge Rugby Club on Saturday, with the players also giving support to the cause.

Mrs Nuttall said: "We asked everyone to wear something pink as it was Tiree’s favourite colour and the first team turned out all wearing pink socks for the game.

“Tiree passed away in July 2014 after a series of seizures. Over the last three years we have staged fundraising events at the Trowbridge Rugby club with auctions raffles and a fun night.

"We had about 250 people there and I can’t thank them enough for their support to this cause. We were just blown by the supporter’s generosity.”

Janet and Ron have added another £3,500 to the £16,000 they have raised over the last three years

More than 100 prizes were displayed for the raffle and among the items at the evening charity auction was a signed Floyd Mayweather boxing glove a Paul Gascoigne shirt, a 50 inch television, boxes of wine and a back door donated by Trowbridge Windows.
