DEBATE broke out between councillors over whether or not spending £4,000 on introducing a 20mph speed limit on a Trowbridge road is worth it or not.
Trowbridge councillors agreed to put £4,000 towards the community area transport group which will look into having a 20mph speed zone on every street in the Drynham ward, apart from Holbrook Lane - the road that Holbrook Primary School is on.
Although it was passed, Cllr Geoff Whiffen believed it was a waste of money.
“I don’t think people take notice. People come zooming off of County Way and onto Dursley Road at 40mph, which is a 30mph residential area,” he said last week. “I have seen cars whizz up there and Hawthorne Grove residents said this too.”
