TWO talented Trowbridge children will appear before celebrity judge Simon Cowell next week after they were selected to go through to the next round of a TV competition.

Eleven-year-old Lauren Medway and her brother Joseph Medway, eight, both produced high standard performances during the qualifying stages and now have the chance to perform in front of the Britain's Got Talent judging panel.

The ITV show is holding the second rounds in Cardiff on Thursday and Friday next week and the Medway family are building up a supporters club for the trip.

Lauren, a pupil at Southwick Primary School, will be singing Somewhere Over The Rainbow by Eva Cassidy and her brother Joseph, who goes to the same school, is singing Black or White by Michael Jackson.

Joseph said: "I screamed like mad when I found out. I'm not scared about going. My favourite song is Smooth Criminal by Michael Jackson."

His sister said: "It was a big surprise and I'm really excited. I'm looking forward to getting in front of Simon Cowell. It's one of my biggest dreams to become famous."

Proud mum Rachael Medway runs Starry Eyes workshop based in Southwick Village Hall.

She said: "It was a huge surprise and they were both running up and down the stairs when they found out. They are looking forward to meeting Ant and Dec."

DJ father Colin Medway and grandmother Sally Boyle, who is also a singer, will be backing them all the way.
