CAFES, pubs, town and parish councils and visitor attractions can apply to the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority for a free cycle stand under a new initiative supported by Regional Development Agency funding.
The initiative is part of the `Dales Cyclenet' project, which aims to promote cycling in the Yorkshire Dales as a sustainable and low impact form of tourism.
Operators who receive the stands will need to commit to installing them in locations that will be used by cyclists and to keep them in place for a minimum of five years.
"Cycle tourism is a growth industry and research has shown that cycle tourists can make a significant contribution to the rural economy," said the YDNPA's transport and visitor management officer, Andy Ryland.
