HAVING already suffered a 6-1 defeat against Pack Horse Rangers and not having won any of their opening 10 matches in Division Three, Bremhill View Boys would have been expecting the worst when they hosted Paul Kidley’s men at Beversbrook.

But Garry Marshall’s side produced on of the results of the day as they turned the tables on their guests to claim the narrowest of 1-0 wins.

After a goalless first half a Kieron Gleed goal on 50 minutes earned Bremhill View Boys their first win since last April.

Cavalier FC 1 Corsham Park Rangers 4

ON PAPER, the game at Sands Lane, Rowde between bottom of the table Cavalier and leaders Corsham Park Rangers should have been a stroll in the winter sunshine for Tim Spear’s men.

But that’s not how things turned out as although Corsham won they had to work hard for their 4-1 win

Rangers had loads of chances but were wasteful in front of goal, firing over or wide of the target when they really should have scored.

However when they did manage to get their sights focused they found the Cavalier defence and goalkeeper Carl Ledbury on top form.

It took until the 23rd minute before back line was finally breached and then it took a fantastic goal from Kent Kauppinen to open the scoring.

A ball from defence was picked up by Jack Forester who chipped it over Kauppinen who turned and struck a sublime mid-air volley from 25 yards out.

Three minutes later, Corsham were two goals up, another long ball from defence was picked up by Matthew Spear who ran through and slipped ball beyond the advancing Ledbury for 2-0.

The second half started brightly for Cavalier and within six minutes got themselves back into the game.

Corsham’s Simon Young was caught on ball just outside the penalty area and a pinpoint cross was met by Jez Wiltshire who had a simple tap to reduce the arrears.

Cavalier’s joy lasted just two minutes as Joe Forester got on the end of an Adam Wood cross to fire Corsham into a 3-1 lead.

Owen Bryan who had missed loads of chances finally found the back of net in the 79th minute when he picked the ball up, ran on and calmly beating a host of defenders before sliding the ball under the keeper and into the net to make final score 4-1.

North Star B 2 Christian Malford 2

NORTH Star B and Christian Malford battled for a share of the points with a 2-2 draw on a very wet Beaversbrook pitch.

Both sides had early difficulties in adapting to the conditions but Malford gained the early advantage and opened the scoring in the 12th minute when Gerald Fawcitt with his back to goal cleverly hooked the ball over North Star’s keeper.

Malford thought they had gone further ahead when Stephen Lynch pushed the ball home after the keeper had failed to hold a cross, but was standing in an offside position and the goal was disallowed.

Paul Knight also went close for Malford but his shot went just wide of the post.

North Star were becoming dangerous on the break and in the 22nd minute they equalised when Micky Taraskevics hit a low shot under the Malford keeper’s dive.

Malford were having slightly the better of play but neither side could take any advantage as the score remained 1-1 at half time.

Malford scored shortly after the restart when a Paul Knight chased a long ball before slotting the ball home to give them a 2-1 lead.

North Star could have equalised immediately but Micky Taraskevics’ shot went narrowly wide.

Star were gradually getting the upper hand and after 68 minutes they were on level terms when Jack Taylor beat a Malford defender before hitting a low shot from the edge of the area to bring the score to 2-2.

Shortly afterwards, Star had a shot that cannoned off the Malford crossbar and Nick Benson also headed the rebound against the bar.

In the 78th minute North Star thought they had taken the lead when a Karl Sharratt volley from outside the area went in.

Unfortunately for them one of their players was stood in front of the Malford keeper in an offside position and the goal was disallowed.

Malford had been coming more into the game as time ran out, but both teams were clearly tiring on the heavy pitch and the game ended in a 2-2 stalemate.

PSC Galaxy 3 Fortune Inn 1

LAST term's runaway Division Four champions PSC Galaxy kept their chances of back-to-back promotions alive with a 3-1 home success over a Fortune Inn side who, after suffering a third loss in just seven games, can all but say goodbye to their hopes of getting out of the division at the first attempt.

After a goalless first half, Steven House put Galaxy in front, but the lead didn’t last that long as Matty Jenkins restored parity for Fortune.

Wayne House regained the lead for Galaxy but they really should have been pegged back for a second time in the game when after giving away a penalty, goalkeeper Leo Whitehead came to their rescue when he kept out Richie Bolter’s effort to preserve their slender lead.

With Fortune searching for an equaliser they started to leave gaps at the back and it was no surprise when Galaxy added a third to kill the game off and wrap up the points, Wayne House making it 3-1 with his second of the game.
