BATH fly-half Tom Heathcote will make his first start for Scotland in Saturday's Test match against Samoa in South Africa.

Interim Scotland coach Scott Johnson has wasted no time in keeping his promise to start developing players for the next Rugby World Cup, naming three uncapped players and two that have yet to play a full 80 minutes of international rugby.

Heathcote makes his first Test start at fly-half after winning his only other cap as a late replacement against Tonga last year.

Johnson is anxious to have a look at all five players but particularly Heathcote, who could be the long-term answer to the decade-old problem position.

"Tom [Heathcote] showed a great deal of loyalty to us at a young age and this is a good chance for him," Johnson said.

Bath  Academy full-back Ollie Devoto and new signings Anthony Watson and David Sisi have all been named in the England U20 starting line-up for their opening IRB Junior World Championship clash against France tomorrow (5.45pm).
