BATH forwards Dave Attwood and Rob Webber are poised to make their first Test starts in Saturday's clash against Argentina in Salta.

England head coach Stuart Lancaster appears ready to hand lock Attwood and hooker Webber, who captained England in their non-cap international against the Barbarians last month, their chance while clubmate and tighthead David Wilson is looking to make the most of Dan Cole's absence.

Wilson will be winning his 27th cap on Saturday but making only his fifth England start after an international career spent acting as Cole's understudy, a role in which he is growing increasingly frustrated.

Cole, who is on British and Irish Lions duty this summer, has missed just one of England's last 41 Tests. As a result, Wilson has played 54 minutes in seven appearances off the bench this season.

But with the chance to start against the Pumas, Wilson is determined to prove to Lancaster and the England management that he deserves a bigger taste of the action.

"It has been a little bit frustrating being on the bench. I'd like to play a bit more or even a bit more time off the bench would be nice," Wilson said.

"I have won 26 caps now and only made four starts. Although I am very grateful for the 26 caps I want to play a lot more and pressure for a starting spot and hopefully be here around 2015.

"Dan Cole is a good player. He is very reliable. He doesn't get injured, he is very dependable. He has an all-round game and it helps that he plays for Leicester, who win week in and week out.

"I haven't been as dependable (as Cole). I had a few injuries and there have been a few ups and down in my performances.

"I have to try and get consistency of performance and keep it high. That is the only way to get selected.

"Hopefully on this tour I can give some confidence to the coaches and they can put me on for a little bit longer and hopefully I can get a few more starts."

Wilson is the only member of the current England side who was involved four years ago in Salta, when Argentina levelled a two-Test series with a 24-22 victory.

The England management appear on edge heading into Saturday's Test against an Argentina side who are also not at full strength, with front-line players like Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe and Juan Imhoff being rested for the Rugby Championship.

Despite that, the Pumas will pose a ferocious physical challenge but Wilson is looking forward to attacking their set piece.

"We scrummage week in and week out for Bath and sometimes things like that really help," Wilson said.

"Their passion is the scrum. If you give them an inch they will take a mile and we can't let that happen.

"We are going to try and use the scrum as a weapon, as they are."

Bath's new signing Jonathan Joseph looks set to join Gloucester's Billy Twelvetrees in the centre, outside fly-half Freddie Burns, also of Gloucester.

New Gloucester signing Matt Kvesic and Wasps' wing Christian Wade are also set to start when Lancaster named his team later today.
