LACOCK were at the top of their game for the visit of fellow second division promotion hopefuls Westwood News to their Meriton Avenue base.

Joe Martin and Martin Bradfield’s table-toppers saved their best performance of the season to date for Mark Hurkett’s side, who they beat 5-0 to open up a six-point lead over their nearest challengers.

Lacock got off to a flyer and took an early lead when Simon Gray headed them in front. Westwood who were restricted to long-range efforts were unable to test the villagers keeper and things became even harder for the newsmen when Sam Hodsoll doubled Lacock’s lead prior to half time.

A second from Hodsoll early in the second period killed off any hopes Westwood may have had of getting something from the game and when Andy Wilkins added goals four and five it was damage limitation for Hurkett’s men.

Westbury Town 2 Trowbridge Town Reserves 7

A 7-2 WIN for Trowbridge Town Reserves at Westbury Town catapulted Dave Jenkins side up from fourth place to second spot and back in contention in the battle for a top two finish.

A first-half hat-trick for Zack Manna and a goal each for Ben Jenkins and Nat Mills put Trowbridge five-up and in the driving seat after the opening 45 minutes.

Westbury may have made more of a fight of things in the second half but a Levi Wood’s double were just a consolation as further goals from Luke Smith and Barry Holloway helped the Bees take home the honey on another profitable day for Jenkins promotion hopefuls.
