ROB Webber is eyeing a place in England’s Six Nations squad come next year – and the Bath Rugby hooker is also tipping teammate Anthony Watson to make further progress with the Red Rose.

Both Webber and Watson were part of Stuart Lancaster’s training squad ahead of the Argentina Test earlier this month.

But despite neither making their way into the match day 23, Webber insists Watson certainly did enough in the short spell he spent at Pennyhill Park to earn another chance come 2014.

Webber, who has five caps to his name, is also hoping he gets the nod when the Six Nations gets under way in February but vowed to give his all to Bath in the meantime.

“Obviously the next thing on our radar is the Six Nations, England is where we want to be,” said Webber. “But there is a lot of club rugby to be played between now and then.

“Anthony Watson has been fantastic, he’s just electric and has got very good feet, but he’s still developing and learning under the tutelage of some of the lads here like Matt Banahan.

“We had a couple of training sessions together with England and he did very well, I think he caught the eye. He gave a good account of himself.

“He’s done really well, we’re very lucky to have him and to have a crop of youngsters like we do here at Bath.

“He’s a great lad, he’s good fun to be around and he’s never too far away from Jonathan Joseph, I think them two come as a set!

“But he works very hard, and he’s fitted in really well, and hopefully he can continue to enjoy his rugby.”

Webber heads back to former club London Wasps as the Aviva Premiership resumes on Sunday.

“After my injury problems last year this will actually be the first time I have played against Wasps, so I’m looking forward to it,” he added.

“It’s good to be going there on the back of another victory (against Exeter in the LV= Cup).

“We had a great start and it certainly makes things easier when you get your noses in front, and we played some good stuff.

“I can’t speak for other clubs but we have a good spread of quality here in our squad, we have that luxury of being able to pick from a big group and it is a massive advantage.”
