CHIPPENHAM & DISTRICT SUNDAY LEAGUE DIVISION THREE PREVIEW: Beversbrook hosts derby day battle

Beversbrook will host the Division Three derby day battle between Calne-based rivals North Star B and Wren FC on Sunday.

The former will go into the game as favourites to take the 3 points on offer but the bragging rights that will go with the victory.

It would be a shock if North Star who are unbeaten in four, failed to beat their guests, who have lost five on the spin, but this is one of those game that may just go against the formbook.

Crossblades entertain a Sportzcoach Dragonz United side who are looking for a return to winning ways after back-to-back defeats.

Sportzcoach, who are still seen as possible title contenders, have lost their way in December; a run of seven straight victories saw them scoring freely but the goals and the points have dried up.

It is hard to see anything other than a victory for Sportzcoach but Crossblades will be out to prove the pundits wrong and may just nick a point from the game.

Table-topping Melksham Cosmos won’t have everything their own way when they go head-to-head with Trowbridge Town Supporters Club at Stanley Park.

The sides shared the honours last term with one win apiece and with the Supporters’ Club still very much in the promotion hunt and going into the game off the back of a three-match unbeaten run, they could well get at least a point from what should be a keenly-fought contest between two top sides.

Christian Malford won’t like the fact that they have been made favourites for their latest game away at local rivals Old Road FC.

Malford were bottom of the table after the first three games but one defeat from nine matches and five wins on the bounce has moved the villagers into third spot.

Should Malford, who beat their hosts 2-1 a month ago, get the victory they are expected to and Sportzcoach lose, then they will move into second place, which will cap an amazing turnaround in form from the opening month of the campaign.
