WITE Horse’s romance with the Wiltshire Sunday Cup came to a blunt end, courtesy of a heavy 5-0 defeat against a classy AFC Amesbury Athletic.

The Chippenham League’s sole representatives in the semi-finals showed good intent from the first whistle and started the livelier, but two goals in the space of three minutes midway through the first the half from Amesbury’s Seb Dawes knocked the stuffing out of them.

Dawes continued to provide the home side’s greatest threat and when he completed his hat-trick in first-half injury time, the Westbury side’s bubble appeared burst.

The pacy winger made it 4-0 nine minutes into the second half and as Horse heads dropped, and their defending became more ragged, a fifth Amesbury goal in the 74th minute ended the dream.
