SUTTON Veny-trained horse Medicean Man is likely to be absent from British racecourses until the winter at least with trainer Jeremy Gask considering several different plans of action.
A tremendous servant of Gask's Wiltshire operation, the eight-year-old won twice at the Dubai Carnival, finished fourth in the Al Quoz Sprint and then endured a very disappointing trip to Singapore, where he pulled off a shoe before the start of the Krisflyer and did not participate.
Medicean Man returned to Royal Ascot for an excellent fourth in the King's Stand, but only beat one home when backing up in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.
"He looks terrific, he's had a nice break since Royal Ascot," said Gask.
"It was just the lack of cover in the Diamond Jubilee. He won't be out over here for a while, but we're now thinking about two options. There's either going for the All-Weather Championship series, or go back to Dubai.
"I doubt he'd stay in Dubai for as long without the Tapeta, but after that there's the chances of going to Singapore and maybe Hong Kong."
