WARMINSTER have been forced to recall three youngsters from county duty ahead of their FA Vase tie this weekend.

George Butler, Jack Richardson and Dan Wilkins had all been called up to represent the Wiltshire FA U18 side for their trip to Norfolk FA in the first round of the FA County Youth Cup on Saturday.

Warminster were originally led to believe that their clash with Gillingham Town on the same day could be postponed, but that hasn’t proved to be the case.

Butler, Richardson and Wilkins are now set to feature for Warminster as they look to get the better of Premier Division outfit Gillingham in the second qualifying round at Weymouth Street.

Last Saturday, a Louis Sparey hat-trick got Derek Graham and Andy Crabtree’s side back to winning ways in the First Division but they still suffered a late scare at the hands of basement boys Bishop Sutton.

The home side got off to a nervy start as Sutton broke away with 12 minutes on the clock and centre-forward Harry Neil placed the ball past keeper Carl Crabtree to open the scoring.

Warminster got themselves back on level terms ten minutes later as Jack Miluk crossed into the box for Sparey to hammer past George Dempsey.

Tom Welch forced Dempsey to tip his strike around the post and a minute before the break, the hosts lead 2-1 as McFerran and Welch combined to tee up Sparey, who fired in his second of the match from the edge of the box.

Dan Price had a header blocked on the line as Warminster turned the screw in the second period and the inevitable third goal came when Butler headed the ball down to Sparey and he controlled on his knee before giving Dempsey no chance.

With minutes to go, Sutton set up a tense finale as Ben Francis’ speculative strike from 45 long range caught out Crabtree and snuck over the line.

"We were the better side on the day. The scoreline makes it look a lot closer than it was," said joint-manager Graham.
