FIVE girls from the Wiltshire School of Gymnastics took part in a national team competition last weekend after being absent from this event for a number of years.

Their scoring means next year, they will be seeded. They were up against some tough competition, mixing it against 173 gymnasts, with ages ranging from nine to 15.

The gymnasts taking part at the 2015 National Bill Slater Junior Team Championships were Robyn Ellison, Nicole Parsons, Jasmine Frost, Hannah Griffin and Jessica Daykin.

Having not competed in this event for a number of years, the girls received the tough unseeded draw in round one on Saturday, starting at 8:30am.

Following a nervous warm-up, the undeterred girls pulled together as a team to hit 17 out of their 19 routines.

A long wait followed to see how the team would finally place as the competition continued via six further rounds late into Sunday afternoon.

They finished in an extremely impressive national ranking of 12th from 30 teams, defeating clubs that Wiltshire had not expected to best and earning their seeding for next year’s event.
