CORSHAM skipper Tom Foley admitted it was nice to get some revenge on Thornbury when his side travelled to The Ship Field in Premier Two Glos/Wilts on Saturday.

The reverse fixture had proved dismal reading for Corsham as they suffered a seven-wicket defeat to Thornbury in June.

But it provided inspiration for Foley and his teammates as they picked up a 19-run win over the home side, who were the league leaders before the weekend defeat.

Charley Reed and Sam Collier were superb for the away side as they combined brilliantly to hand Corsham an advantage.

Reed went on to notch 110, while Collier chipped in with a handy 53.

“Thornbury were top of the league at the time and when we played them at our place they embarrassed us a little bit so it is nice to get one back over them,” said Foley.

“Charlie Reed batted really well, him and Collier were a real big help on such a hot day.

“Then we just had to bowl well. We kept to our fields and luckily we got a few early wickets to keep the pressure on.

“It was a good win. We have done really well recently, especially when you beat the likes of Thornbury who are top of the league.

“We had a poor start and it makes you think how high we could have been if we started well.”

Elsewhere, Cheltenham inflicted a six-wicket home defeat on Westbury.

The hosts opted to bat after winning the toss and were dispatched for 230 at the weekend.

Stand-in skipper Michael Coles led by example with 67 but was well supported by Sam Burdoch’s 63.

However, Noah Cooper Llanes put the pressure on the home side immediately with a huge 134 as the visitors notched 233-4.

Trowbridge had better luck as they saw off Biddestone to claim a victory.

Tom Weaver’s side were asked to bowl by their counterparts but wasted no time getting their teeth into Biddestone’s batting order after rushing to a 15-4 score, before seeing them off for 111.

With the bat, they made light work of the target they had been set, reaching 113.
