Milton Keynes Dons head coach Mike Williamson has said that he is not sure what the future will hold for Swindon Town loanee Dawson Devoy this summer.

Devoy joined Swindon on loan in January after Dan Kemp had returned to Stadium MK from his own loan spell with Town and has become a regular in midfield during his stay.

The 22-year-old has done well in his time at the County Ground, scoring three goals in 15 appearances in League Two having been asked to play a number of different roles in midfield due to injuries.

He had his real standout performance against AFC Wimbledon as he came off the bench at halftime with Swindon trailing to score two goals and have a big hand in the third as Town won 3-2.

Devoy has another year on his contract with MK Dons and will return there this summer, but his head coach Williamson said that he is not sure what his future looks like with the Buckinghamshire club.

Speaking to the MK Citizen, he said: “I don't think any of us know what the future holds. Daws is a great guy, and we saw in patches here how good he can be and the potential he's got.

“He has gone there and done really well which I'm made up for, but I don't know what the future holds. There are many conversations we need to have.

"It's a cliché in football, but we'll get the football concluded, and then we will look at those sorts of things.

"We need to focus all our attention on the play-offs, but there are so many moving parts outside of that that we need to pay close attention to because a lot of the boys who have gone out on loan have performed really well, which is pleasing."

The former Republic of Ireland youth international has previously said that he would be searching for first-team football in some guise next season but would have to return to Stadium MK first and ultimately had not been given any indication about what he would be doing.

Interim head coach Gavin Gunning has admitted that Swindon would be interested in bringing Devoy back next season if that were a possibility.

He said: “100 per cent [I think he could be here next season]. I think that he loves it here and he loves the work that we are doing.”
