CALNE Meteorites recorded their first Wiltshire Volleyball Association Division One of the season at Melksham last night.
In an exciting and close match they played some excellent volleyball and ran out 24-26, 21-25, 25-17 winners over their hosts, with Andrew Wescombe named their player of the match.
On Sunday, Wootton Bassett Bees hosted Calne Asteroids and raced into a 17-3 lead in the first set.
Asteroids Clive Dorling restored some respectability to the scoreline addingeight points on his serve before the Bees closed out the set 25-16.
The second set was much closer with neither team initially able to outscore the other, until the second rotation when the Bees managed six consecutive points which proved decisive.
In the final set the Asteroids switched their setter and, after the first rotation, pulled away to win it 25-14. Calne player of the match was Helen Norvall.
