WESTBURY: ASPIRING coach Jon Parker plans to transform Westbury into a leading Southern Counties South team within the next five years.

Parker led the White Horse men to seventh place in Dorset and Wilts One last season after a disastrous start to the campaign. The Leighton Green chief is confident Westbury can mount a promotion challenge after a strong finish to the 2005/6 campaign.

He said: "We've put together an in-depth pre-season plan which should enable us to address every aspect of the game. "In five years' time I hope to have a squad which is capable of challenging for the Southern Counties South title, and maybe more."

Parker has been buoyed by the return of the Coleman brothers, Richard and Ed, who have both shaken off long-term injuries Scrum-half Sam Gooding, South African Tom Barrell and back row Paul Skinner have all returned for pre-season training after missing last season through injury and work commitments.

However, Parker is likely to be without promising prop-forward Chris Bush this season. The 19-year-old is due to have an operation on his shoulder in September.

He said: "Losing Chris is a major blow because he was an outstanding player for us last season.

"He was supposed to have an operation this summer but it has now been put back. I doubt very much whether he will play any part in the season." Westbury embark on a tour to Weymouth next month to prepare for the Dorset and Wilts opener against newly-relegated Corsham.
