WARMINSTER: ANOTHER week, another wedding, another win for Warminster.

The hosts were without star performer Richie Underdown for Saturday's clash with Goatacre but the result was never called into question.

While Underdown was busy performing best-man duties, all-rounder Carl Clarke was staking his claim to become best man for Warminster.

Clarke took two for 31 with the ball and smashed 69 with the bat to lead the Sambourne Road outfit to a comprehensive six-wicket win. Tomorrow, opening batsman Sean Adams will look after the wedding ring for his best friend at yet another summer ceremony, but Warminster skipper Mark Coxon-Tenty is confident his men will not be left standing at the altar.

He said: "We coped on Saturday and we will cope this weekend as well. The lads coming back in will have a point to prove after this win.

"I thought Carl played very well. He was promoted from number six to number three and, after a few nervy strokes early in his innings, he looked very good out there."

Coxon-Tenty invited Goatacre to bat first and the visitors made a slow, but steady start to their innings. Openers Lines (37) and Gee (22) found scoring difficult against the seam and swing of John Powell and Aussie Matthew Bell.

As Goatacre looked to assert themselves, Coxon-Tenty turned to off-spinner Leigh Beauchamp, and he turned the game in Warminster's favour. Beauchamp bowled with great control and discipline to return fine figures of five for 54 from 13 overs.

Goatacre closed on 169-9, with Dan Horon's 31 the top score. In reply, Warminster lost Adams for 10 before Coxon-Tenty (44) and Clarke shared a second-wicked stand of 98.

Wicketkeeper Dave Bateman (30) played a key role for the hosts as they reached their target inside 44 overs.
