WINSLEY: WINSLEY recorded back-to-back wins for the first time this season with a three- wicket victory over Twyford House.

Another win tomorrow against rivals Pak Bristolians could see the villagers finally haul themselves from the foot of the Bristol and North Somerset table.

The mid-season revival represents a remarkable turnaround for Winsley, who had looked certainties for relegation in the early weeks of the summer. Zimbabwe captain Terrence Duffin was among the runs on Saturday, the left-hander striking 69 to steer Winsley to their target of 138.

But it was the bowling of Pete Orchard and former Wiltshire stalwart Jon Spencer which set the tone for the hosts. Orchard (two for 16) and Spencer (two for 25) reduced the visitors to 29-4.

And despite some dogged middle-order batting, Twyford continued to struggle.

Andrew Cross picked up two wickets and Terrence Duffin claimed one wicket as Twyford limped to 137-7 in 50 overs.

In reply, Winsley lost openers Charlie Holton and Spencer cheaply before Duffin and skipper Andy Ellett (28) shared a third-wicket stand of 89. A late flurry of wickets failed to dampen the Winsley spirits as the home side coasted home with 15 overs to spare.

Ellett said: "It's encouraging to get back-to-wins and it shows we are highly capable. We need to capitalise now and take this form into Saturday's game."
