MIKE Perrott is set to make a swift exit from Chippenham Town after being offered regular football at Frome Town.

The versatile midfielder arrived at Hardenhuish Park in the summer, having spent the majority of last season with former Bluebirds boss Darren Perrin at the Zamaretto League Division One South & West side, but the 21 year-old looks set for a reunion with his old club.

Chippenham have received a seven-day approach for Perrott, who has made just a handful of appearances for the Bluebirds, with boss Adie Mings unable to guarantee him a starting place.

“Mike told me that they offered him a regular first-team place and I’ll never stand in the way of someone who wants to play,” he said.

“Unfortunately, there’s competition for places here and we can’t guarantee anyone a first-team place, so it looks like he’ll be leaving.”

Striker Shaun Benison has also left Hardenhuish Park – but on a temporary basis after signing a dual registration with his local club, Melksham Town.

“Shaun’s not feeling confident about his hamstrings and wanted to get an extended run of games to make sure they were alright.

“He’s then away for a month in Canada so we won’t see him back until November,” said Mings.

However, one man coming back through the door at Hardenhuish Park is Ben Highmore, who is expected to train with the Bluebirds tonight after spending time abroad, also in Canada.

Mings added: “We’ll have the same number of forwards we had last year. Ben’s a naturally fit lad so he should be ready to come straight back.”
