CORSHAM Town suffered the full brunt of Odd Down’s backlash to their 7-1 opening day defeat to Merthyr Town, as Trevor Rawlings’ side were thrashed 6-0 on Wednesday night.

Kye Simpson put the visitors ahead before Mark Keen and Troy Simpson had the Bath outfit 3-0 up by half-time.

Kye Simpson grabbed a second after the break before Gino Necco and Dave Cooper struck to round off the rout and leave the new-look Corsham bottom of the table after the first week of fixtures in the Toolstation League Premier Division.

There was similar disappointment for Rawlings’ men last weekend as they suffered a 1-0 defeat at Bridport.

Corsham thought they’d taken the lead only to see the goal chalked off for a foul in the build-up, before Crit Clarke popped up to head home the winner for Bridport from a corner.

This weekend, the Southbank side turn their attentions to the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup, where they take on Toolstation League First Division side Cadbury Heath.

Rawlings will be unable to call upon the services of striker William Birch after he left to join Hellenic League Division One West side Trowbridge Town.
